Fishing Notes

Today was a fun day to be fishing. I had my little brother from St. Louis in town , we hit the water about 7 AM. We started on main lake points. we caught 3-4 fish on the crankbaits on our first stop! This was a rocky point with wind on it. I also had my brother throw a small rattle trap on dock corners for bites, this proved to work as well for lots of bites. We continued on the day fishing windy main lake and secondary points, the bites slowed down around noon, so we decided to flip around wood and docks for a bit. We caught a couple shorts, and my bro caught a nice 3 pounder on a lay down. He caught that fish on a Crock O Gator Wiese jig 3/8 ounce. Was a bigger tree lay down. One thing i really noticed today was the shad!!! My word they are everywhere, from all over the main lake to inside the coves!!! Big ones, little ones, all over!! the water is cooling down and they have been running current, so the water is a bit stained in lots of areas. That being said it really hasn’t had a big effect on the fish.Bass and crappie seem to be turned on right now!! Good luck to All!!
