Fishing Notes

After spending time getting my trolling motor back and operational this morning, I started fishing about 11 and fished until 2. I started out checking some brush piles with a few shorts out of 12′-20′ piles mostly on or around secondary points. I then chased wind with the spinner bait for about an hour with no boated fish but a few swiped at it. Then I fished the plopper and had some good bites including a 4.8 and 4.3 pounder on main lake bluff ledge rock. I had a few other good blow ups from big fish but they missed it a and I had a 4-5 pounder on but it came off when I tried to boat flip it. Thats when I decided to get off the water and go to Fitz’s to get new Gamakatsu sharper hooks for the plopper. I have had too many quality fish on the plopper the past couple of weeks come un-buttoned, so hopefully the sharper hooks will help me boat those fish. I caught a couple of small keepers on the stick bait on the corners of main lake docks with wind hitting the corners. I talked to a few anglers that are catching quality fish on the spinner bait and A-Rig. I personally have not committed to those baits yet, but both will catch em good now. Also, the Rock Crawler will catch some good fish now as well. I idled around the back of some big creeks today and there are still some good quantities of bait fish in the back of some of them, so the shallow dock bite with bait fish or brush piles should produce bites, but right now for me, Im all about covering water with the plopper, buzz bait and spinner bait for big bites.
