Where I would fish and why. Glaize one day and just before Tan Tara to Hurricane Deck area second day. I would fish the Glaize because I am most familiar with it and there are lots of released big keepers from tournaments out of PB2, I would fish Tan Tara to Hurricane deck bridge because that is my second most familiar area and the water should be getting warm.

Fishing Notes

Where I would Fish:

Glaize one day and just before Tan Tara to Hurricane Deck area second day. I would fish the Glaize because I am most familiar with it and there are lots of released big keepers from tournaments out of PB2, I would fish Tan Tara to Hurricane deck bridge because that is my second most familiar area and the water should be getting warm.

How Would I Fish Those Areas:
Glaize
In the Glaize I would cover water with a single colorado blade E-Factor Spinner Bait and double willow blade painted blades in shallower backs of creeks. In addition to the spinner bait I would also cover water with the Rock Crawler/Wiggle Wart or 6th Sense Curve. The Glaize is stained so I would fish the white/chartuese spinner bait and red, orange or yellow colored crank baits. I would also have a Chompers Eraser Jig in Ozark Craw tied on for shallow and creek channel banks and the Crock-o-Gator Wiesse Jig in Natural Blue for Bluff Ends and fishing a bit deeper with bigger rocks. I would also have on a French Pearl Megabass Stick Bait to fish windy points and bluff ends. If you are an A-Rig guy, I would fish that in the lower Glaize area and color the tails with a chartreuse marker. My go to approach in the Glaize however would be cover water with the spinner bait and Rock Crawler and target mid to backs of creeks.

24mm – Hurricane Deck Bridge
In this area on the second day, I would fish shallow docks in the backs of creeks, side pockets of creeks, main lake shallow docks on flats and the first couple of docks just inside of main lake points. I would do this the second day because the fish are gonna be seeing a lot baits chucked at them on day one and there is a good chance they will retreat to the safety of docks of off the bank in brush piles. There are fish getting shallow that want to spawn at the end of this month, while some of them area staging now on seconday points and off the banks around pea gravel/mixed rock banks, there will be some big girls hanging around shallow docks, probably not a lot of them like we will see toward the middle to end of May, but that first wave should already be shallow. Probably wont be a lot of bites the potential for a 5-8 pounder will be there. I would do this also because a lot fisherman dont want to mess with those docks, so the fishing pressure should be less too. While mentioned that this is the second area that I am most familiar with, this pattern applies to all areas of the lake.

What Baits and Approach:

I would have tied on a Crock-o-Gator Muskrat Creature Bait on a Crock-o-Gator Gator Lock Jig Head. I would use a green pumpkin in clear water and Black n Blue n dirtier water. I would use that bait to skip under and behind the docks. If you are not good at dock skipping baits, then fish a spinner bait along side those docks and behind the docks, even throw a spinner bait behind the docks. I would also fish the mixed rock banks in that area with the spinner bait and rock crawler on open banks leading to the spawning pockets as well as secondary points with wind, with the stick bait, jig, A-Rig and spinner bait. One of the things I have learned about the spinner bait, when you throw it to the bank start reeling slowly,, but as the depth of the bank changes, let the spinner fall closer to the bottom, especially on cloudy days this time f the year, the fish are closer to the bottom, let the spinner tick off the rocks on the bottom and/or around or over the top of brush.

If I would be fishing lower end, I would throw stick bait and A-rig or flip docks. If I were fishing the river area I would target backs of coves and throw spinner or creature baits on wood and shallow banks. Toll Bridge to Shawnee Bend area, A-Rig, Stick Bait, spinner bait, rock crawler jig or flipping docks in the backs of coves.

See pics for baits, keep in mind that colors will vary based on water clarity.
